The third piece to FireChef’s acclaimed Chef’s range trio, the Chef’s Machete combines the power and functionality of the Chef’s Cleaver with the size and adaptability of the Chef’s Knife into one badass beast of a kitchen tool that you won’t see fit to be without – either at home or on the road.
This hand-forged Chef’s Machete is a well-balanced and weighted multipurpose knife made from high carbon steel and full tang as one solid piece from the handle to the tip.
Promising unparalleled dexterity, perfect for slicing through onions, vegetables, large sides of meat, juicy steaks or your house-made BILTONG cleanly and with the greatest of ease.
With an 8″ (20.5 cm) blade and a hardwood handle casing ergonomically shaped for a very comfortable handgrip that feels second nature.
Weighing a respectable 350 grams, a gentle guide of the blade down and against the grain will be all that’s needed for the perfect cut every time.
Included is a unique canvas sheath doubling as a safety feature to protect both the knife and anything else from coming into contact with the sharp blade.
And as the wise old words of Crocodile Dundee, you too will be claiming: “That’s not a knife…… THIS is a knife.”

CARING FOR YOUR NEW CARBON STEEL KNIFE
This Cleaver is hand-forged from high carbon steel with the black iron oxide left on the blade to give it a premium hand-forged look. Please clean the knife before using it for the first time using soapy water and drying with a hand towel. Leaving it wet will cause the blade to corrode and get rust marks on the blade.
Some of the black iron oxide will peel off after the first couple of cleans, but it will keep its hand-forged look for years to come.
The shiny part of the blade will turn a dull blue colour over time called patina, but it is perfectly normal and will help protect the blade from corroding. Some acidic foods, like chicken and lemon, will instantly leave patina marks due to its acidic nature, but that adds to the uniqueness of the knife. For day to day use we recommend washing it with soap and water, but please ensure to dry it immediately.
High carbon steel is robust and long-lasting and will keep its edge longer than stainless steel.
