The Classic Braai Bak / Meat Bucket
This is our new classically designed Enamel Oval Roaster, also known as the Braai Bak or Meat Bucket “thingy”, made to keep your meat warm after the braai or do a perfect roast in the oven. It comes in marble black with a matching lid and has a premium canvas bag for easy storage while travelling.
Why it is built well
Made from porcelain fused onto heavy-gauge steel for extra durability and a smooth finish, this braai bak is scratch-resistant and oven safe to 230 – 270C. The enamel surface wipes clean and is dishwasher safe, so cleaning up after a big braai is quick and easy.
The matching enamel lid has a dimpled surface that helps keep your meat succulent, while the helper handles make it easy to lift and carry between the kitchen, the braai and the table. The vintage Braai Mate look in black with white dots is a timeless finish that suits any braai setup.
How to use your braai bak
This oval-shaped enamel roasting dish with a lid is a true all-rounder. Use it in the oven for roast meats and vegetables, or as a casserole dish with the lid on for slower cooking up to 230C+.
Before the braai, use it to marinate your meat so all the flavour soaks in. After cooking, pop the lid on to keep everything warm and juicy while you finish the rest of the spread. When you are done, the porcelain enamel surface makes clean-up simple.

I recently used this to cook a roast and veg in the same container. It’s all turned out well, it’s a light weight unit and well made. I expect it will last a while stored in between uses in its zip up cover.
My tip to people would be to crack open the lid to release steam and moisture, to get that crisp, and lid off for the last bit. Lid keeps it all hot whilst resting. Buy one, it came within days.very happy.
