    Just posted a review for the Chef’s Knife but the Chef’s Cleaver is on another level. I was drawn to it watching Fire To Fork and it seems to be Harry’s go to for just about everything he does. This type of knife is new to me and I really am enjoying the benefits of the cleaver style blade when chopping veges and preparing them for cooking. It’s great for anything (meat, veges, pastries, pizza, etc) and I’m really looking forward to taking it camping. I think it will be a real game changer in the camp kitchen. Like the Chef’s knife, its razor sharp and the protective sheath is a great compliment to the knife to avoid losing a finger or damaging the edge when it’s traveling. Highly recommend this.

    The Chef’s Cleaver is quickly becoming my favourite knife! We also have the Chef’s Knife and the Machete. Great quality, super sharp and durable blade. I like the larger blade as the weight does most of the work for you while chopping, yet it’s still able to do more intricate work (to a point).

    As everyone has said, incredible service. Purchased late Friday evening and delivered,engraved, Wednesday afternoon.
    I purchased the full set,in the roll. After purchase you get email confirmation and instructions on care of your knives. This gave me the heads up to buy some instant coffee before arrival.
    The knives are incredibly sharp. When they arrived sadly all I had to test them on was some banana peels. Obviously that was a breeze, did them so easily. But what did alarm me was while cutting, before my eyes the blade started staining. At this stage I had only washed and dried the knives. I hadn’t seasoned them in the coffee yet. Quickly washing and drying the knife again did remove most of the stain. And since seasoning in coffee it hasn’t happened again.
    The knives are amazingly sharp but I was disappointed how quickly they lose their edge. They have only had very light kitchen use and became dull very quickly. But a few seconds before, and sometimes during use, with a steel is maintaining them at peak sharpness.
    This is not a chore, you are warned about the carbon knife characteristics beforehand and wiping a knife and sharpening during use was actually already a practice I was in. They are fantastic knives. The cleaver is my first ever cleaver and I’m blown away by its versatility. So much so that sadly I already don’t use any of the other knives.
    The leather roll is stiff to put knives in for the first few uses but softens very quickly and is great for keeping knives between use.
    I am a very happy repeat ozbraai customer.

    So before I get onto the product itself, I feel I need to highlife one import area a lot of companies get wrong and that’s customer service.
    When I initially ordered my chef knife combo I selected the chef’s knife and cleaver, I ended up with the cleaver and machete.
    I contacted the team via Instagram on a Sunday to advise of the mistake.
    I received a reply back within 10 minutes, after checking my order and confirming the mistake.
    They sent the correct knife the following morning, and I received it two days later in WA!
    On top of this I received a sincere apology and was told to keep the incorrect knife as a gift for the mistake. This is no $20 knife we’re talking about.
    So the knife itself… OMG why have I been struggling for so long with cheap knives, game changer.
    Will certainly be purchasing from these guys in the future.

CARING FOR YOUR NEW CARBON STEEL KNIFE

This cleaver is meticulously hand-forged from high-carbon steel, retaining the black iron oxide on the blade to showcase its premium hand-forged aesthetic. Before the first use, please clean the knife with soapy water and dry it thoroughly with a hand towel. It is crucial to avoid leaving the blade wet, as this can cause corrosion and rust marks.

Initially, some of the black iron oxide may peel off after a few cleanings, but the cleaver will maintain its distinctive hand-forged appearance for years to come. Over time, the polished part of the blade will develop a dull blue patina, which is a normal process that enhances its resistance to corrosion. Acidic foods, such as chicken and lemon, can accelerate the formation of patina, adding to the knife’s unique character.

For everyday maintenance, we recommend washing the cleaver with soap and water and ensuring it is dried immediately. High-carbon steel is renowned for its robustness and longevity, maintaining its edge significantly longer than stainless steel.
